Florida's Sand Can Cause Gritty Gears

Let's face it, Florida was built on sand. I love it. I cant think of a better place to ride. The sand does have its bad qualities.

Getting sand in your engine can cause serious damage!

A dirt bike rider should do everything they can to try and keep their bike clean. Washing the bike and performing maintenance is very important. This is sometimes overlooked because it isn't as fun as riding the dirt bikes or pit bikes. Well, let me tell you, getting Florida's sand in you engine can cause gritty gears. This can destroy any gas engine very fast. If you do perform the maintenance of your bike you can prevent the sand from hurting your bike.

Washing your dirt bike or pit bike after every use is recommended. Don't just spray it down with the water hose either. Water is bad for gas engines too. Wash the bike with a rag or sponge and a bucket of soapy water.
